Jet, by Wings, is about a pet pony. Blackbird is about a blackbird, and Bungalo Bill is about a tiger hunter. Probably some more animal references in Paul McCartney's work.. Walrus? I think that was John, oh well...

Wonder where the nuthatch winters?

Well, that would certainly be the only way to make "Jet" make the slightest bit of sense.

Jet! with the wind in your hair of a thousand races
Climb on the back and we'll go for a ride in the sky.

Saw a good interview with Sir Paul, he said he always loved to write strange, obscure lyrics, just his style and he enjoys it that way.

I thought it was a thousand "laces"?

yeah, ringolevio, you may be right about that.. i went and looked it up online and a few of those websites all say "laces". It was a couple months ago I saw a BBC documentary on Band On The Run's re-release. There was a big interview with Paul McCartney, and I thought that he said "races" but I could be mistaken, it was on late at night and even when I'm really interested and have a second wind, ... I tire easily. So it could all go down as another mysterious lyric in the mythology of Sir Paul.

Apparently, she was dogged in her determination to meditate. There, that takes care of the dog part.
